- Tama's highest priority when producing the Superstar series was sound. The full, powerful character and rich resonance of the Superstar drums were achieved by utilizing carefully selected maple shells and focusing intently on shell molding and the bearing edge shape.
- Using claw hooks that feature built-in rubber lining helps protect the wood and maintain tuning, even during long performances.
- All Superstar's "Power Craft II" drum heads (except Duo snare batter head) ensure a great sound practically right out of the box! Ring mufflers on bass drum heads remove the need for extra internal muffling.
- Tama L-rod and Omnisphere tom holder systems have recieved acclaim from drummers for over 25 years. These systems offer easy positioning, maximum flexibility, stability and greater sound than standard designs which penetrate the shell interior and can inhibit resonance.
- Low-mass lugs, which are newly designed seperate lugs for the Superstar series, reduce the surface area that the lugs occupy on the shell. This means the lugs will not hinder shell resonance.
