Hays Dowdy is a DMV based alternative indie songwriter and multi-instrumentalist performing live as a solo artist along with elite bands in International Musicians League. Rooted in British Invasion rock, bluegrass, and trained in jazz, his approach focuses on an idiosyncratic pairing of lead guitars and baroque lyricism. He graduated from Montgomery College with an Associate of Arts degree in 2014, and has studied privately with jazz mentor Bob Israel and bluegrass musician Vernon Santmeyer combined with decades of live gigging, recording, and private teaching experience. Recruiting a high-energy live band to perform his unique blend of classically-fused pop-punk with agile grooves and angelic harmonies, his top streamed song, “Voodoo Doll (feat. Abby Sevcik)”, is out now, and his debut album, “Dreaming in Seven Senses”, was released on January 10, 2025. He teaches acoustic and electric guitar, bass, and ukulele.
