Yamaha YVN003 4/4 Full Size Student Violin
The result of innovation, not imitation
For a long time, Yamaha has challenged itself to make a high quality and durable student violin. One that could be built with greater precision, while generating less waste material in the process. The result is the YVN003. Yamaha has developed a new and unique production technology/process for student violins to deliver durability, consistency, and confidence.
High durability
The YVN003 has high durability due to its completely new and unique manufacturing method.
3-layered process forming Top & Back (US Patent 9406285 B2)
The top and back are formed using a unique and original 3-layering process to produce stability and ensure consistency in material. This 3-layered structure is resistant against environmental changes thanks to precise control of moisture in the wood during construction and bonding the pieces together in a way to not interfere with its natural acoustic properties.
3-layer construction maintains higher stability through environmental changes and ageing
Repeated cycle tests were performed in high and low humidity environments. The YVN003 is stable through environmental changes compared to Traditional Carving.
Natural Acoustic Violin Sound
Optimized sound through computerized thickness distribution (US Patent 9406285 B2)
The top and back boards of the YVN003 achieve ideal body resonance and sound due to the distribution of thickness. With the help of computer-aided production, the 3-layered construction perfectly replicates that of a traditional violin.
*The illustration shows distribution of thickness in the top and back.
Core material with thickness distribution made by machining
A special method of top and back board construction that does not sacrifice sound quality
Conventional press forming compresses the material and produces areas of increased density, resulting in tops and backs with characteristics that are unlike natural woods. For the YVN003, by controlling the thickness distribution, natural woods characteristics and density are maintained for the top and back even after the press process.
Stability and Consistency
Parts manufactured and assembled to precision tolerances enhance stability
Precisely formed/shaped parts
High precision in the manufacturing of parts and the assembly allows tight, precise tolerances for structural integrity and added durability. Specifications are designed to achieve the highest possible quality. Mechanized precision parts production and assembly are not dependent on individual craftsmen skill level.
Precision formed maple rib parts
Precisely shaped nut by NC machine tools
Eco friendly
Wood consumption in making top and back boards reduced by two thirds compared to traditional carving.
